slavic fort

daniela (Berlin, Germany) on 14 July 2013 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

of course a model - there is a superb reconstruction somewhere in Raddusch.

The Slavs (or Wends) lived in our region -formerly known as the Northern March (Nordmark) - from the 7th-12th century.
Albert the Bear fought them - the official reason was "christianisation of the pagan population", but actually it was a war about territorial rights. By 1157 Albert has won and became Margrave of Brandenburg, the slavic survivors were assimilated.
