wounded little dragon

Posted by
daniela (Berlin, Germany) on 12 May 2013 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

same dragonfly lady as yesterday. Turns out to become a study of this, or better a photographic memorial service, the safe place I took her to was empty the next morning - the stick I convinced her to sat down on was knocked down.

I mean, it was clear she wouldn´t survive long - not able to fly and prey and not even able to walk around, only thing she could do was holding onto the stick.
Maybe some cat got her last night, or a bat, there were some living under the roof, haven´t seen them yet.
I have to admit I never thought intensely about insects feeling pain or suffer, not that I didn´t care, but since that afternoon shooting with the wounded dragonfly lady I think they do.
It is especially sad because this species is strongly endangered in Germany (due to water pollution and manmade changes in their habitat).
