parrot leaf

Posted by
daniela (Berlin, Germany) on 24 September 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

alternanthera tenella (ficoidea), aka parrot leaf, calico-plant, joyweed and many more.
It belongs to the Amaranthaceae, native to Brazil, and was sold to me wirthout a name but being hardy, so we planted it in the garden. after hours of research I finally found out the name to this beauty (it´s leaves always are so colourful, not only in autumn). So, it´ll hardly get through the winter =( even if we take it inside.
