My submission for the Am3 theme.
I had thought about how to transform this theme for quite a while.
When I think of determination I instantly see people´s faces in a strong almost forceful expression. That´s not what I want to show.
I have been quite obsessed with one theme for the last years, I really want this to realise in a shot - it´s from the starting sequence of Dexter (tv) - a mosquito sucking the blood from my own arm.
I can´t count how often I ´ve let myself get bitten by mosquitos and tried to photograph that. It´s not as easy as it sounds. (Try it LOL)
Oh I got some more or less "good" shots over the years.
This summer I had my try on 4 occasions, and this one time I "managed" to get bitten in the inner left hand - what a very weird place for a mosquito. Handheld macrolens (heavy..) and the itching (aaargh) and the one handed focussing and cameraholding thing, not to mention the sweaty hands - 35°C that day, afraid of scaring the mosquito off (how sick is that?!) - let´s just say it was difficult. :}
I´m still not happy with the result; although this one´s closer to what I want than any of the other shots.
But I am bound and determined: One day I make the pic that i already have made in my mind.
Btw - my sequence didn´t include smashing the mosquito in the end :)
or as it reads on movie credits:
No animal has been harmed. Only me.
