Glienicke Palace Park

Posted by
daniela (Berlin, Germany) on 19 April 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

In what ever direction you look in the Glienicke Palace Park you find a new visual axe (visual axis!) which were superbly formed by the famous landscaping architect Peter Joseph Lenné ( and still very much in shape as you can see - the Pleasure Ground looks like a backdrop for painters, it feels like making photographs from a living oil-painting.) here it is the view from the park with ruins from old italian columns and the Casino to the Havel river.
Question to native speakers - I find different translations for our german "Sichtachse" - I find long vista, viewshaft (?), visual axis - which term is appropriate for garden landscaping?
