Lycaena tityrus

Posted by
daniela scharnowski (Berlin, Germany) on 28 August 2010 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Known as Sooty Copper (lovely name!) in english and Brauner Feuerfalter in german. A male btw.

These butterflies belong to the family of Lycaenidae, the family of the little blue butterflies like the wellknown Holly Blue. The wingspan is 28-30 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location.
