(nearly) a 100 years ago

Posted by daniela scharnowski (Berlin, Germany) on 2 March 2010 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Over the next weeks I will post some great old photos.
I scanned yesterday a lot of pictures from my family, all from the very early 20th century and even before.
We are lucky to still have them in a mint condition if you imagine, some of them survived 2 worldwars, flight and expulsion ( like their owners).
The picture above shows my grandmother as a young girl, the occasion was her confirmation and this must be taken around 1925/26 by a photographer in Berlin, his name and address are embossed in the lower right part of the image.

I´m very impressed by the character of these old photos and glad they turned out so great after scanning and processing. The original size was 14x9cm. There were a lot of scratches on the surface which I removed, and I decided to enhance the red tone rather than eliminating it. Also some careful contrast and white balance i did.
I would like to do some more variations, and I´m very interested in your opinions and I hope you enjoy this historical trip ;)

Edit: As Curly suggested wisely, I`ll upload now all restored pictures as before / after juxtapositions to my web-album :
alles-im-auge.magix.net.
I also added some technical stuff.

Please respect my work.
If you want to use my pictures just contact me. I´m a nice one & it won´t hurt, probably.
