on a clear day you can see forever

Posted by daniela scharnowski (Berlin, Germany) on 11 December 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

of course this has nothing at all to do with the broadway musical by the same name....but for some reason my brains connects this line with a view like this.

These are the Bastei (means bastion) -cliffs at the Elbe-Sandstone-Highlands in Saxony, each crag has its own name, the big formation is called The Goose (please don´t ask me about the others ...).
The highest point there is about 305 metres above sea level and these rocks are famous for being the backdrop for landscape painters like Caspar David Friedrich, to name at least one, - and last not least a wellknown rockclimbing area.

If you watch closely, on top of the far right crag of the Goose is a man sitting (looksa like a little brown spot), the touristgroup on the very right is just followuing the visitor´s track , no dangerous climbing there.;)

You will see more of this spectacular landscape we visited in summer over the following days (thanks to the fact that this series isn´t too hard to process, I mean, what can one do to technically good shots in the worst case? right.)
