V formation

Just to give you an impression of one incoming group of cranes =)
Not a really good capture, but they were moving so fast!
As our guide said, the average flying speed is about 45 - 65km/h!
Flying racers ;)

hehe, small extra ;o): how many cranes do you count?

You got a nice formation - movement is not a bad thing. You illustrated the speed of flight. A creative choice!

@Barbara Kile: Given the low light at that time it was the only possibilty =) Thank you Barbara!

Lyl and Roll from Besançon, France

C'est vraiment épatant ces vols en V... Très bonne capture.

@Lyl and Roll: ;) Merci beaucoup!

Kiwisa from North Shore, New Zealand

I really like the visual effect of movement you have captured

7 Nov 2009 8:26am

@Kiwisa: I just got to knew the quality of the shots here on the monitor - as usual. I´d love to present you a bigger picture including more of this small groups flying together, but in that light I really had to focus on less subjects ;)

k@ from Paris, France

Yes, the movement is greatly felt within that blur, I like that a lot, let's all fly - away !

7 Nov 2009 8:30am

@k@: I´m with you =) South of France / Morocco they´re heading - sounds completely like my choice ;))

AG from London, United Kingdom

The movement adds a lot to this and makes for a fascinating shot. I count 30 !

7 Nov 2009 9:59am

@AG: ta, AG! Icounted 31 but maybe I´m wrong - tsome are to close ;)

Loner from Wörgl, Austria

Hallo, Daniela !

kaveh Sadeghi-Azad from TEHRAN, Iran

beautiful! i like these birds, they are delicious. lol

7 Nov 2009 12:19pm

@kaveh Sadeghi-Azad: As I read, some crane population migrate to Iran for the winter - maybe in a few weeks you get licky too =) (Japanese say this bird symbolizes luck & longevity)

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

Love the blur of the wings. Perfect.

@john4jack: Thank you =)

John from Geneva, United States

29!

7 Nov 2009 9:30pm

@John: Oh dear, I counted 29. 30 & 31) ;)

John from Geneva, United States

I probably counted wrong - maybe you count better than I do. Test your skills counting the number of passes made by the team in white shirts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4
Good luck!

7 Nov 2009 9:38pm

@John: That´s a very tricky video, I got 13 passes but missed the dancing bear completely! - thank god i`m no car driver ;)

Anina from Auckland, New Zealand

It's either 29 or 30 :)
I like this shot. Lovely tones and movement. I like the formation. Very well captured

7 Nov 2009 9:48pm

@Anina: After many counting I tend to 31 =) Thank you Anina ;)

David Nos from Barcelona, Spain

I have counted 31 cranes... Very nice formation, they are splendid pilots. You have captured it in a way that shows its speed!! Wonderful!!

10 Nov 2009 5:27pm

@David Nos: That was a great experience for me - first - shooting flying birds in bad bad light - but more the view of their clusters arriving at the horizon, coming closer and closer, flying spirales (they look like twirling & flying snails when they are far away) and then just a few seconds over your heads... very touching.
